Amnesty Chair to Adam Bodnar

Because human rights are an important theme at Ghent University, the university has established the Amnesty International Chair, which every year honors someone who has made a special contribution to human rights.

On 28th of April, Adam Bodnar, the Polish ombudsman and Human Rights Commissioner, will receive the honor and will give the keynote speech, followed by a panel discussion including prof. Eva Brems, Polish-Belgian philosopher Alicja Gescinska and Director of Amnesty International Flanders Wies De Graeve.

Ghent University alumnus wins prestigious Indonesian award

Dr Bambang Supriyanto, Director-General of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and alumnus of Ghent University's Faculty Bioscience Engineering, was awarded for ‘The Satyalancana Wira Karya Award’, which is a token of appreciation issued to Indonesian citizens who have been very instrumental and devoted to the nation and state.

Ghent University pioneers new European University

Ghent University is becoming more international than ever. In fact, the university will be part of ENLIGHT, a brand-new collaboration project, together with eight other European universities.

This should make it easier to take courses abroad, conduct research across the borders and team up in tackling social challenges.
